Zartos Z-2024 (Spain LP 1974)
[cover/record] Near Mint (NM or M-) / Near Mint (NM or M-)
"Released on the small barcelona based Zartos label in 1974 this record contains quite a few strange versions of spanish pop, soul(T.S.O.P.), latino funk and afro rock . The three stand out tracks are covers of Mandrils "Hang Loose", "Git It All" and Osibisas "Survival" all with dirty hammond, fela kuta styled horns by a bunch of spanish guys trying crazy hard to copy latino funk. "Hang loose" starts off with a funky combination of percussion, drums and a bassline to kill for - much like the mandrill original but somehow a little more raw and with a pinch of ska? "Cogelo Todo" (in english is "Git It All") has crazy vocals and a beat break down and "Survival" really reminds me of Fela Kuti in places" DJ's check!, TOP archive unplayed copy
